Wood destroying organisms range from termites, powderpost beetles, carpenter ants, carpenter bees and many more different species of insects. Here in Saskatchewan we don’t encounter these insects on a regular basis, however factors such as climate change and the importation of infested lumber can bring on the presence of these pests. Wood destroying organisms cause billions of dollars in property damage every year in North America. The activity of such organisms can cause defects that lead to structural failure and possibly personal injury to the occupant, if they are present when the structure fails. Having a trained inspector in this field is always great way to reduce ones risk when purchasing a prospective property.
